A New Resource for Free Digital Field Trips
In Edutopia's post, A New Resource for Free Digital Field Trips, Laura Bradley shared the website Museums for Digital Learning. This website gives educators and students the ability to view exhibits and artifacts from museums across the country. Having digital museums and field trips, allows students to see exhibits and artifacts they may never get to see because of distance and cost. Digital field trips have also been helpful with Covid regulations.
In the article, Bradley discusses how to make an account, the resources it has for educators, and an example of how to use a digital field to trip to the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in the classroom.
After reading the article, I made an account and began exploring the website. There are many resources kits that were created to support the learning of different content areas. I was able to search by grade and subject, then save the kits to my account for future use. I see this being a great resource for social studies and ELA, but I recommend that any teacher check it out.
I love digital field trips! We just did one with the kids in science class to show how different places around the world experienced different seasons at different points in time!

DeleteThank you for sharing this! I cannot wait to share this with the teachers I work with at school. My students have been pretty upset about not getting to go on any field trips still since COVID and would love to get to do something like this! I had heard about digital field trips before, and I think I even remember looking at a site for one when I was in college, but I forgot about it and have never used this with the students.
