Cult of Pedagogy: Quality-Check Your Tech: 6 Strategies
While perusing through Cult of Pedagogy's technology blog archives, I came across this blog entry by Jennifer Gonzalez. It made me think about my research on technology integration frameworks and my problem of practice topi: implementing technology in the classroom but not reflecting on its data to drive further instruction. This blog entry discusses ways to assess the quality of the tech tool. A summary of the strategies is depicted below.
The blog also discusses the importance of assessing the tool before and after implementation. Gonzalez shared the story of another educator and how her school implemented new technology. The idea was that the software use would help close gaps in understanding and help the students learn at their own pace. They found that it worked spectacularly for already excelling students, but the struggling students began falling even further behind.
This is an excellent entry for any educator starting to use new technology in their classroom or using a tech tool but seeing the results they were hoping for.
